As anyone who runs their own business will know, success does not come easily. Tracey Miller, confidence performance coach and owner of Bigger Brighter Bolder, was extremely busy running her business, and did not have time to think about clothes or shopping.
Tracey says “I was never very good at clothes shopping at the best of times but when you shift from full time employment to running your own business you have even less time and so making the right decisions quickly become even more important. That additional pressure put me off completely! “ Although Tracey knew which colour suited her, she wasn’t completely sure on which style and shapes of clothes would best work for her. She also thought that to buy loads of new clothes would mean spending lots of money, and as all the vast majority of her income was being invested back into business projects, this was preventing her from moving forward. She was stuck.
The solution came as a birthday present for Tracey from her family. Victoria worked with Tracey firstly to understand her style and shape. Tracey is a tall natural hourglass shape, and knowing how to dress for her shape was the first step in simplifying the mystery of clothes shopping for her. Victoria also worked with Tracey to understand the image she wanted to portray through her business. Like most women, she had her own unique idea of what she wanted and she needed a different look for different situations; from casual and relaxed, to smart and businesslike.
Victoria then took Tracey on a shopping trip to charity shops and recycling centres. “I was very skeptical,” says Tracey. “I think I had been in one charity shop before and I left pretty quickly. It was, how shall I say it, overwhelming..! Victoria was patient and “broke me in gently” whilst taking time to explain the ethical and economic benefits of shopping in this way.” After half a day’s well organised shopping, including a gorgeous breakfast, Tracey ended up with 3 dresses, a coat, two cardigans, a top and a beautiful leather bag. All she spent that day was £71..!!
“I couldn’t believe how successful the day was. Not only did I end up with some great clothes, I also managed to get some labels, like Jigsaw and Ghost, that I love. Everything was in the perfect colour and style for me, thanks to Victoria’s expert eye and I have to say, for someone who doesn’t much like shopping, I loved the experience. Victoria is patient and really fun to be around.
I would recommend this experience to anyone who is either unsure about what they look good in or who wants gorgeous labels on a budget. Victoria is a master at making you look and feel good about yourself.”
